Review: Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paints Summer Releases

For the longest time I stopped painting my nails. Essentially I got lazy and couldn't be bothered to spend time painting my nails beautiful colours that would just get ruined at work. That was until I got bit by the nail painting bug again and conincidentally Barry M released a set of new nail paints perfect for the warmer weather we've been enjoying.

There are four new shades in The Coconut Infusion Range and each one is bright, bold and beautiful in it's own way. There is:

Scuba. This is a stunning blue shade which is completely unique to any other blue shade that Barry M has released before.

 Popsicle. This is a bright pink but is more raspberry in tone than bubblegum which makes it perfect for people who are a bit unsure of pink nails.

Flip Flop. What an orange. This shade is absolutely beautiful and looks stunning on both fingers and toes. Definitely one that'll pop beautifully with a tan.

 And finally Lemonade. This is a stunning unique shade. It's yellow but not too sickly and has a fluorescent edge to it that'll really show well against tanned skin. Brilliant shade for toes if it's a bit too bold for your liking.

All four shades are infused with a mixture of Coconut Oil and Coconut Water to nourish the nail whilst you wear it. They advise not wearing a base coat with these polishes so that nails really benefit from the extra ingredients in these colours. Each shade has a flat, wide, square ended brush that coats the nail in one swipe and leaves behind a stunning, high shine, opaque colour.

As for these four shades in particular, my god they are beautiful. I didn't even wait to get home before I swatched them on my nails. Scuba, Popsicle and Flip Flop go on beautifully in one coat on the nail but Lemonade being such a difficult shade in general takes another coat, not only to give it an opaque finish but also add a pop to the colour. And they last brilliantly on the nail. I have a very hands on job and these didn't chip or flake even though I wasn't being gentle with my nails. When they did chip though and it was time to take them off, I was very happily surprised to see that the shades I was worried about staining, didn't leave a stain behind at all. Usually such highly pigmented bright shades like these stain the nail but there wasn't even a hint of one after I took this off.

If you're looking for a new summer nail paint then I highly recommend you check them out. Not only are they bright and perfect the warmer weather but they also look after the nail as you wear them. Their one of the slightly pricier ranges in the Barry M nail collection but they're well worth the price tag. And if these don't catch your fancy then there are other shades that will surely catch your liking. 

Top 5 Barry M Polishes For Winter

The nights are growing darker, the weather has turned colder (hella cold) and Christmas adverts are appearing everywhere. It can only mean one thing: Winter is here. So it's time to say goodbye to bright nail shades and hello to deeper tones and pretty neutrals.

Classic Nail Paint in Nightshade: If you like the look of black nails but aren't confident in wearing them then give Nightshade a try. It has a navy undertone to it that changes to black when reflected in the light. This is one of their classic nail paints so will need a good two coats to make sure it's completely opaque. They take a little longer to dry but once it's dry you'll have a nice shine finish that'll only intensify once you add a top coat.

Gelly Hi Shine Polish in Cocoa: This is my favourite alternate shade to black nails. This stunning deep brown shade not only makes a more interesting manicure shade but is also the perfect autumnal neutral shade. You can get away with one coat of this polish but I'd advise two to really get that depth of colour. It dries down to a very high shine finish but as always I'd advise using a top coat over the top to prolong the length of your manicure.

Gelly Hi Shine Polish in Cardamom: This shade screams Christmas to me. It's that really deep forest green that looks a lot like Christmas Trees. It's also part of the Gelly Hi Shine range so once it dries you'll have a bright shine finish that'll only get better with the aid of a top coat. Two coats is recommended to really make these pop when they're on the nail. This colour would be brilliant for anyone who is thinking of trying their hand at nail art this festive season.

Coconut Infusion Polish in Storm: If any of the shades that have already been shown don't appeal to you then maybe this neutral grey shade from Barry M's Coconut Infusion Range will. Storm is a deep grey shade that'll stand out on the nail whilst also looking understated and minimal. It's a nice alternative to all the neutral brown shades that Barry M and other brands do. One coat of this is enough to give a perfect opaque finish but if you'd prefer to do another coat then you can. These polishes are infused with coconut oil and coconut water so they nourish and condition your nails as you wear them.

Coconut Infusion Polish in Island Fever: This is my Christmas red this year. It's that deep festive looking red that just screams Christmas. It's reminds me a lot of a blue toned red lipstick and really pops on the nails. Two coats of this really gives it that little bit of va va voom and once a top coat is applied there is a brilliant shine that doesn't die down the longer you wear it. This is another brilliant colour for any festive nail art you may do and I personally plan on wearing this for the entire month of December.

Review: Barry M Coconut Infusion A16 Releases

When Barry M release new polishes you all know that they'll appear here at some point. And when they released their new Autumn shades for the Coconut Infusion Range, it was the quickest I'd ever parted with my money.

There are six shades in total for their Autumn range but I only picked up four. These were the colours that stood out to me the most. From left to right there is Storm (dark grey), Oasis (dark purple), Boardwalk (greyish purple) and Island Fever (dark red). The other two shades were more neutral paler shades that were very similar to several other shades I own.

These shades are perfect for the upcoming colder months. Storm being a dark grey shade makes a perfect alternative to black nails as does Oasis. Sometimes black polishes can be a bit too much but these darker shades are dark and seasonal whilst still holding a bit of colour. Island Fever is a perfect red shade for Christmas and topped with a bit of red glitter will create the perfect festive nail look.

If you don't know the premise of these polishes I'll give you a quick run down. They're infused with both Coconut Oil and Water to hydrate and protect the nail whilst wearing them. They discourage the use of a base coat with these as it allows the infusion to penetrate the nail deeper without the barrier between them. But don't worry, none of the shades will stain the nails and easily come off with normal acetone formula nail polish remover.

One of my favourite things about these polishes are the brushes. Instead of being thin and hard to use like the old Barry M polishes these have a flat square ended brush which coats the nail in one go. Not only does this make them more precise it makes painting your nails quicker. They also don't take very long to dry on the nails so smudging them between coats is very unlikely. I would advise though doing two coats for all of the shades not because the formula is thin or streaky but because it gives a really nice depth to the colour. However if you're in a rush then you could get away with just one coat.

If you're looking for some new seasonal nail shades then I highly recommend checking these releases out. They're good for the nail, right on trend and don't break the bank either.

Review: Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paints

Now I know you're probably fed up of my Barry M Nail Polish Reviews but I can't help myself. Barry M is one of my favourite nail polish ranges on the high street and I can't help but pick up every new range they release. And their latest release is a very interesting release as well.

These are the Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paints. They are infused with Coconut Oil and Water to help hydrate the nail whilst you're wearing the polishes. There are nine shades in total ranging from brights to neutrals and of course I just had to get them all. 

First up you have the five bright shades in the range. The bright shades in this range are called Laguna, Bikini, Flamingo, Aloha and Surfboard. These shades are probably my favourite out of the range especially now the weather is warming up and people are starting to embrace brighter nail colours. Surfboard is the most interesting shade out of the five in my opinion as it's a beautiful purple lilac shade that looks almost neutral in the bottle but does actually gives a pop of colour on the nail. Laguna and Bikini are the two I've worn the most as I'm a girl who like greens and blues but I'm sure I can find a way to work Flamingo and Aloha.

And then you have four of neutral shades. Yes I know they all look very similar but really there are differences between them when you put them on the nail. You have Starfish, Tiki Hut, Sunkissed and Skinny Dip. Tiki Hut is probably the most interesting shade out of the four of them, it's a mixture between a caramel shade and a chocolate shade that is going to look beautiful on the nails. And if you're looking into doing white nails this summer but not sure if they're going to work on you then Skinny Dip is that perfect off white shade that will ease you gently into that trend.

When it comes to formula these are pretty interesting. There is no need for a basecoat with these colours not because they're certain not to stain but because apparently it helps the ingredients nourish and hydrate the nails more. Surprisngly these are very thick in formula, even the lighter shades which can sometimes be thin and somewhat streaky when applied. They come with the new flat square ended brush that Barry M are putting in all their new polishes. It means they cover the nail in one sweep and makes doing your nails quicker and easier.

Once dry, nails have opaque colour and a high shine. I know a top coat is necessary to keep the lenght of a manicure but if you don't have time or can't be bothered to apply one then these colours have enough shine to give the look of wearing a top coat. I did find that if you use thicker consistency top coats then these do peel/chip on the nail quicker but with thinner top coats they last a lot longer.

Overall I really like these polishes. However I know these won't be to everyone's liking due to the shade range but if you're a big fan of brights or of neutrals I really recommend you check these out.
