Review: Collection Make Up Fixing Mist

Something some high street brands are missing is a good setting mist. Maybelline have released a brilliant one but others available are a little lack lustre. So when Collection released their new Primed and Ready Make Up Fixing Spray I was intrigued.

This claims to have a lightweight mist that will help prolong the wear of make up and leaves skin with a natural matte finish. And boy does it work. It's a very fine mist that sprays evenly and doesn't just spurt out against skin. Instead of leaving skin feeling drenched, it leaves skin feeling refreshed and still soft and hydrated to the touch. It doesn't disrupt make up and you don't have to worry about any of those awkward mascara smudges that some setting mists cause.

When it comes to prolonging the wear of make up, it does it very well. It's been very hot and humid over here lately and this has been my saving grace. It holds make up in place and gives everything a soft matte look which is perfect for the weather. A dewy glow is always nice but right now it looks more sweaty mess than healthy glow. It doesn't absorb oil but does stop skin from looking shinier than it feels or should be. It's finish doesn't leave skin looking powdery or cakey, even with powder products underneath or over top. And if you have over powdered or your foundation is a bit cakey looking then this will even it all out and make it look more natural and skinlike.

This is a brilliant new release from Collection. It doesn't break the bank, works wonders on the skin and is suitable for all skin types. It's packaging whilst minimal makes it look far more expensive than it's £5.99 price tag. If you're looking for a new make up setting spray/fixing mist I highly recommend you check this one out. I haven't reached for my Maybelline SuperStay Setting Spray since I purchased this and that was a Holy Grail Product for me.

Review: Barry M Hydro Primer Water and Setting Spray

When I saw that Barry M were releasing a Setting Spray and a Primer Water I knew I had to buy them. The High Street is seriously lacking in Setting Spray's and Primer Water's, so it's nice to see that brands such as Barry M are branching out and taking a risk with their new releases.

The Setting Spray comes in two finishes. Dewy or Matte. I picked up the Matte finish as I'm not a big fan of dewy skin. I like my foundation to be matte so it lasts longer. The spray is a very fine mist that doesn't leave skin feeling wet when it's applied. It sinks into skin quickly and doesn't smudge any lipstick or eye make up you may be wearing. Once it's set on the skin it really does help prolong your make up and even if you do build up a sweat when you're doing whatever it is your doing then no worries, your make up will stay in place and still look as fresh as it did when you first applied it. I put this up against the Maybelline Setting Spray which I've been a big fan of since it was released and this spray beats it. Something I didn't think would happen.

Hydro Primer Water's are very hard to come by on a budget and the only other one I've tried is from Make Up Revolution. It wasn't that good and ended up being used to dampen my beauty blender. However this release from Barry M is very good indeed. It has the same fine mist as the setting spray and doesn't leave skin feeling soaked. It doesn't take too long to sink into the skin and once it has, skin feels smooth, soft and hydrated. It works well in conjunction with other primers. I use this before I apply my Benefit Porefessional and it doesn't affect how that applies over top. Skin feels smoother and hydrated for longer no matter how much make up you have on over the top. You could also use this for a facial spritz to give skin a hydration boost throughout the day.

For products that are hard to come by on a budget these a surprisngly good for their budget. At £4.99 these aren't the biggest bottles on the planet but if you look past that you have a brilliant product inside that is definitely a higher quality than it's tiny price tag. If you're heading to a Barry M stand anytime soon, I'd say definitely check them out.

Have any of you tried these? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.

Review: Maybelline Setting Spray

Bonus Post Time! I know another bonus post. I have so many products to review and I don't always remember about them until I've scheduled my posts for the month so I decided I'd throw in a couple of extra reviews this month so they don't get forgotten. And today's review is of the Maybelline SuperStay Setting Spray.

I became a fan of setting sprays towards the end of last year but I quickly wore out the selection the high street had to offer. Yes I managed to find one I liked but it wasn't wowing me to the point where I used it and nothing else. Then at the beginning of this year Maybelline released their setting spray and all my prayers were answered.

Unlike some other setting sprays I've tried this is a very fine mist that doesn't drench the skin when you use it. Two or three sprays does the whole face and it dries down quickly so your skin doesn't feel tacky or wet. Once it's dry your make up is literally not going to move unless you want it to. And it doesn't dry out your skin. Some of the others I've tried have dried out my skin but not this one. At the end of the day my skin still feels as hydrated as it did when I put my moisturiser on.

The packaging leaves a lot to be desired as you can't see how much you've used and you can't see if you get any settlement at the bottom like you do in the Loreal Setting Spray. I also don't like all the writing on the front as it just seems a bit too much for the front of a product. But I know you don't wear the packaging so it should count but I can't help but picky about it sometimes.

Overall I really like this Setting Spray and I can see myself picking another one up in a couple of months time. It leaves my skin feeling good, my make up stays in place longer and it doesn't drench my skin and make everything run when I apply it. Definitely a winner for me.

Have any of you tried this? What did you think? Did you like it? Or do you know of any other brands I should try? Let me know in the comments.
