Review: Rimmel The One Matte Lipstick

If you're a long time reader of this blog then you'll know that I am a big matte lip lover. And when a brand releases a new range of matte lipsticks or just even new shades then I have to have them. This is exactly how what happened when Rimmel released their matte versions of their 'The One' Lipsticks.

I have two shades out of the six in total. There are a mixture of nude shades and bolder shades in the range but only two caught my eye. Take The Stage is a bright tomato red shade that apply's smoothly to the lips, opaque in one swipe, true to colour and comfortable to wear. It's my personal favourite of the two. The Matte Factor on the hand isn't as deep as it looks in the bullet, more of a pink toned shade than the deep plum it looks in the bullet. It's also harder to apply to the lips and comes across a little patchy. It can be paired with a lip liner but that lip liner has to meet the exact colour of the lipstick otherwise it'll show through the lipstick when applied.

Wear wise these are more comfortable than some other matte lipsticks on the market but you still can feel them on the lips. They have more of a rounded bullet that makes application smoother than than of a pointed bullet. They don't cling to any dry or flaky patches on the lips and don't dry the lips out either. Reapplication is easy and there won't be any problems with it balling up or flaking away when you layer it up.

Overall these lipsticks are nice but not outstanding. Opaque, smooth to apply and non drying these are a better quality than some on the high street but apart from that they're not really standing out much more. If you're looking for a wowing matte liptick on the high street then I'd say try the Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks over these.
