Lip Product Week: Day Three- MUA Luxe Liquid Lipstick Review

Welcome back to Lip Product Week Day Three. Today's post is on one of the most budget liquid lipsticks I could find. And their liquid lipsticks whilst not costing a lot actually rival some of their higher end counterparts. If you're wondering what liquid lipsticks I'm talking about then let me introduce you to the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers.

I have two shades from this range. Reckless and Dash. Reckless is a blue toned red shade that makes teeth look whiter and is the perfect any occasion red. It's actually a pretty good dupe for Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso. The only difference between the two is the tones, Beso has more of an orange tone to it making appear more of a tomato red on the lips whereas Reckless has that crimson tone to it which makes it appear deeper in colour.

Dash is a mauvey mid toned pink. It's a very unique shade, especially for the high street. Good mid toned pinks that suit a variety of skintones are hard to find on a budget. However this one does just that, it looks deeper and more mauve toned on fairer skintones but appears more of a baby pink shade on deeper skintones. If you're looking for a cheaper version of Rosie For Autograph's lipstick in Lady Rose then this is a fifth of the price and comes in a matte finish.

Both shades come with your standard doe foot applicator and standard length wand. Some wands can be longer than necessary which makes it harder to control and harder to apply the product. This one is just right and makes controlling the applicator easy. And for the applicator it's one that doesn't gather too much product or too little. It pulls just the right amount of product out the tube so you can easily coat your lip with enough product without having to go back in and try to add more before it dries. Because once this lipstick dries there is no moving it. The slight slant tip to the applicator adds a nice way to follow the line of your lips when applying and you don't have to worry too much about going in and cleaning that up afterwards.

When it comes to wearing these, these are a product that you know is on your lips. And it all depends on the condition of your lips. As with many liquid lipsticks if you have dry lips then they're more of a no no. Dry lips means they cling to dry patches and make them appear darker than the rest of the lip, giving an uneven finish. And the same stands with these. If your lips are in good condition then these will feel comfortable to wear and it's only after a good five or six hours will you really feel them on your lips. However if you have dry lips then these will feel even more drying and can feel like they're cracking and peeling off your lips.

These do ever so slightly transfer but it's mainly from the inner rims of your lips. It happens if you're doing a lot of talking, eating or drinking. And then reapplication can be tricky. As these are a matte finish product it means that you are essentially putting another dry coat of colour over an already dried coat of colour. If you're lips have gotten considerably drier since you applied this then they can cling to dry patches and appear uneven. That can be stopped though if you bop a little bit of lip balm over your lips before reapplying these. It'll help lock in some moisture and aid reapplication. It won't help the feel of these if that's a repeated action as they will just steadily zap all the moisture from your lips.

Overall these are nice lipsticks. They come in a brilliant range of colours, they dry down to a nice matte formula and they won't break the bank. Yes they can be drying on the lips but so can any lipstick or liner and at only £3 a pop it's not the biggest issue there. These won't peel of your lips or transfer easily unlike some higher end brands so dry lips isn't really a problem with these. Lip balm will be your best friend but should be that already. Definitely one's to look at next time you're at a MUA Stand.

Have any of you tried these? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.
