Recipe: Nutella and Banana Bread

I've been wanting to post a recipe for a while now and last weekend I found the perfect recipe, however they were gone before I could even get some decent pictures. So I thought I'd share with you one of my favourite recipes with a twist. And that favourite is Banana Bread with Nutella swirled throughout.

Ingredients
200g Caster Sugar
200g Softened Margarine
200g Self Raising Flour
4 Eggs
2 Medium Sized Bananas
2 Teaspoons of Nutella

Method
1- Pre Heat the oven to 180C or Gas Mark 4.
2- Line a loaf tin with either greasproof paper or special loaf tin shaped cases.
3- In your bowl put the softened margarine and the caster sugar. With a wooden spoon or a spatula cream the two together until it's soft, light and fluffy looking.
4- Add the eggs one at a time and with each egg add a tablespoon of flour. Beat until well combined and then repeat the action until all the eggs have been added.
5- Once all of the eggs have been beaten in, add the rest of the flour and gently fold into the mixture. Don't worry if the mixture doesn't look that appetising, the end result will do.
6- Peel both bananas and slice them thinly. Once sliced and in a bowl, take a fork and mash around until there are no large chunks of banana left.
7- Add the banana mix into the cake mixture and stir in until well combined.
8- Then take a teaspoon of nutella and add to the cake mixture. As you stir the mixture will change colour slightly but it's nothing to worry about. Repeat it again until you have enough Nutella running through the mixture. Don't worry if you have a large chunk of nutella in the mixture, just grab a fork and swirl it through the mixture to distribute it evenly.
9- Once every thing is mixed together, spoon it into your loaf tin or if you want you could make cupcakes out of it. If you make a loaf, spread it evenly into the corners and then pop it into the oven for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
10- To check it's cooked, pop a skewer into the centre. If it comes away clean it's cooked, if some mixture remains, pop it in for a bit longer.
11- Once cooked, allow to cool and then slice and enjoy.

I really hope you liked this different style post. Baking is a passion of mine and I thought it would make a nice addition to the blog occasionally.
